Road Race FAQs

Is there an age limit to join the race?

No, all are welcome to join. You must be 4+ to be considered a timed participant.

Can I walk the race?

Yes, be mindful that the kid's dash will be taking place starting at 11:15 at the finish line. The timer will stop at 11:45am.

What is the weather going to be on Race Day?

Looks like the forecast says no rain, and 65*F! Here's a link to check ;)

Can I Register on the day of the Viking Fest Road Race?

Yes, you will be directed to purchase it online. You will need to come to get your packet at Poulsbo Lion's Park.

Can I buy a T-Shirt on the day of the Viking Fest Road Race?

Yes, you will be directed to purchase it online. All inventory is "live" - so check daily to see if the shirt size you want is available. You will need to come to get your T-Shirt at Poulsbo Lion's Park.

Can I pay by cash or check?

Can I get a refund?

No. As signed in the waiver

Can I exchange my shirt size?

That can all be done online, no guarantees the shirt size you want will be available.

What is packet Pickup? Do I need to get a packet?

All registered participants need a Packet. Packet Pickup includes day of race instructions, T-shirt pickup (if ordered), Bib w/Timer, and sponsorship goodies.

Packet Pick Up will be available starting May 17th at Poulsbo Parks and Recreation: 19540 Front St NE
-Tues, May 17: 1-4PM .
-Wed, May 18: 10-2PM .
-Thurs, May 19: 10-2PM .
-Fri, May 20: 10-6PM .
-Sat, May 21: 8:00-9:30AM @ Lion's Park = Road Race Day! 
-Sat, May 21: 10-11AM @ Marina Market - for Kids Dash

Can I have dogs or strollers with me as I run?

Yes. Dogs must be on a leash and please be respectful of all runners.

Where can I park?

We encourage carpooling and getting dropped off for race day. Some suggested parking can be found at Poulsbo Bank of America, Gateway Fellowship Church, and the upper lot for Parks and Recreation. There is parking at North Kitsap High School, and a shuttle will run all weekend long from North Kitsap High School to Viking Fest:
-Friday: 4pm to 10pm.
-Saturday: 10am to 10pm - just don't miss your race! 
-Sunday: 10am to 4pm;

If I have picked up my packet, when should I get there?

We recommend getting there at least 30 minutes ahead of time because we are seeing record-breaking turnouts!
The start time is set per race as the following:
-10:00am: 5 Mile @ 6th and Harrison St.
-10:05am: 1 mile @ 6th near Hostmark.
11:15am: Kids Dashes (4-10 yr olds) - @ Front St. near the finish line.
11:45am: Awards Ceremony.

Will there be a place to check in my purse, wallet, keys, etc?

No.

Will there be water/snacks?

Yes, our sponsors Kitsap Physical Therapy and Maxx Nutrition provided at the finish line. And for the 5 milers, we will have water available at the halfway point.

Is my bib and timer disposable?

Yes, you can recycle both.

What happens if I have an emergency during the race?

There will be an emergency vehicle at the finish line, Poulsbo Police, and Poulsbo Fire at the event.

Where are restrooms available?

We will have porta-potties accessible at Poulsbo's Lion's Park.

How do I know my race time?

We will have a large timer displayed as you cross the finish line. Take a look at your bib to scan and immediately see your time after you run through the finish line.

Are there awards?

You get a ribbon for just participating!
- Special Ribbons for Top 3 Male and Female Division Finisher based on the 10 following age groups: 5-9, 10-12, 13-15, 16-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
- Trophies & Prizes for Top 3 Male and Female Finishers in both the 5 Mile and 1 Mile races
- Trophies & Prizes for Top #1 Male and Female Finisher in each 25-yd, 50-yd, 100-yd dash.

I am new to Poulsbo, what else is there to do while I am in town?

You happen to be visiting during a very special weekend for our City of Poulsbo, and that is Viking Fest Weekend, hosted by our local Viking Fest organization. It's a special weekend-long celebration that coincides with the Norwegian Independence Celebration "Syttende Mai"
